Thrush in dogs?

I just started Paris, my standard poodle, on ear medication for yeast infection of the ears. She has had ear problems since I got her from the pound last summer. She had mites, now it's yeast. I just noticed her tongue is very red and sore looking and she seems to be reacting to it by pushing her tongue around in her mouth and baring her teeth. I'm sure it is uncomfortable. Anyone heard of this in dogs? I wonder if I can give her anything to relieve the discomfort. She won't eat yogurt unfortunately. I know people take Nystatin. I don't know if the stuff for her ears is going to help her mouth. I'll get her to the vet on Monday. He didn't see her before prescribing this current medicine as she needs to be sedated to have her ears inspected; I brought him a culture and it was yeasty. I have started her on the medicine, but hate to see her suffer. Any suggestions or experience with our problem?

My only advice is get her to the vet asap. I wouldn't wait until monday. It could be nothing major, but it could very easily be something serious.

Chrisanne

No vet, except for emergencies, on Sundays in Maine I am sure it is not an emergengy, as she isn't seriously symptomatic, has been eating, is not lethargic. I am just really attentive to my animals! It was just today that I brought in a swabbing of her ears and he found yeast, so I do have to give it a few days for the medicine to work. I'd was hoping someone knew of a dog friendly remedy for the thrush. I appreciate your advice and concern, though!
