Exclamation

urgent question about my pet mouse!

i own two domestic mice, and one of them appears to be very sick, or prematurely old. she is no more than five months old, and she is very skinny, and has been losing fur. does anyone know what might be going on here? is she sick, and if so, what can i do? or, is she just old already? i've owned mice for a while now, and none of them have ever shown hints of aging untill around 7 months of age. i'm very worried about her

You need to get her to a vet asap. There could be many things causing this but you will most likely need vet assistance.

that's the thing though, we are in a financial hot spot right now, and it's been hard to keep bills payed the last month or so, so it wouldn't be possible for me to shell out $50 for a vet visit.. do you know of any medicated washes, or lotions that might help her? her skin seems to be flaking where there is no hair or the hair is thinned..

Most vets will work out payment plans if you don't have the money immediately. You can always discuss that beforehand. $50 sounds like an awfully high number anyway ... prices are likely higher up north but I seriously doubt it will take $50 to treat a mouse.

I agree...my exotics vet only charges $35 for a visit for Chinchillas (of course that is just an exam...doesn't include lab tests and medications) You need a vet...call around, you should be able to find someone to look at him for a reasonable price

she's actually doing a bit better today, she started eating again, and gained some of her energy back.
