What is Wrong With Tiger?

Tiger is acting weird. I noticed that he slept a lot yesterday and didn't seem right. Now today his nose is chapped because he keeps licking it, and he is just lethargic and kind of curled up. Whenever Ollie or Jasmine comes near him, he hisses at them like crazy. His pupils also look really big. Right now he is laying with his eyes closed and his legs tucked under him. His nose is kind of making a little squeaking sound. He did eat his wet food this morning, but I had to move it away from the other cat because he kept hissing at them. What could be wrong with him?

Do you think he is missing Sneakers? It might me a delayed reaction.. If you think he is too bad, then take him to the vets..

Well he is acting like he doesn't feel well. His eyes are kind of cloudy looking too. I'm thinking he might have a cold or something? I don't know how he would catch it, being an indoor kitty. Unless he caught it from Jasmine, but she has been fine since I got her.

Sounds like it could be an upper respratory infection...I wouldn't wait, but take him in to the vets as soon as you can. He'll need antibiotics to clear him up. Keep us posted

Steph, I agree with Mandie, it almost sounds like a URI (that's what Maggie is just getting over). I would get him into the vet right away. They will listen to his lungs to make sure he is clear of fluid (pneumonia) & likely give you a round of antibiotics.

Didn't Jasmine come from a shelter? She could have likely brought it with her. I have been told that almost ALL cats that come from a shelter end up with a URI & sometimes it doesn't surface until they have been in your home for a couple weeks.

When in doubt, check it out... better to be safe than sorry.

Don't worry Steph, if it's a URI, they are fairly easy to treat and cure. Just get him on the antibiotics ASAP and he'll do just fine

She came from a rescue. I'm not sure if she was at a shelter first, or was just turned over to the rescue. She had a cloudy eye that got better with drops, so maybe she had a virus in her or something.

Well Tiger's vet closes in an hour and its about a 40 minute drive, so thats not going to work. Looks like I'm going to have to call around and see what vet is open. Otherwise we will go to emergency.

I'm going to take him to CVS (California Veterinary Specialists), where I took Sneakers. I really like them and they are close. They said I can bring him in without an appt. I got an appt. at another vet and their office charge was almost as much as CVS. I'd rather go to CVS because I know they are good. I'll keep you guys updated.

Glad to hear it Steph! Sometimes when a vet is good like CVS, it's worth it to pay a little more if for no other reason than the comfort level of their care.
Let us know and scratch Tiger just above the tail for me

He loves being scratched there. Yeah I'm actually going to inquire about making the dr at CVS my normal vet. They take appointments on weekdays and are not just an emergency vet. I really like one of the doctors (she is the one who put Sneakers to sleep ) and she is the only vet so far that I've liked out here. I trust her and they are really close too, so I want to see if I can take them there from now on. Tiger is up for his yearly checkup and shots so he'll be going in again when he feels better. Hopefully he just needs some antibiotics. I will let you guys know. This is not a good year for my kitties!
