I got an aquarium!
Well as some of you know, this past weekend was my birthday. I took some of the money I got and bought a small aquarium!
It's only a 5 gallon, as I don't have a lot of room but I'm happy! We had a 55 gallon tank in Ohio and I MISSED my fish! I could just sit and stare at them forever and calm down. I had to get one!
It's currently in the 'startup stage' so I only have a few very cheap fish in there but here's a pic for you all!
It actually came with hood, light, and filter for only $40 -- a pretty good deal!

What kind of fish do you have in it? I like it!
My son got Nick a 10 gallon a few months ago. He loves it.

Hi Jade:
I have had an aquarium for about 6 mths now. I started with a 2 gal tiny tank with two tiny oranda fish.
I now have a 10 gal tank with two oranda goldfish named Ralph and Norton.
Here is a photo of my tank.
I like your octagonal shaped tank! It looks very nice!!!

It looks great, Jody!!
Right now I have a cory catfish in it, an algae eater and 4 little cheap zebra fish that i can't remember the name of! LOL! Start with a D. Danios, maybe.
I started small ... Hopefully hunny will be down here soon, so I can have my big tank again!

Very nice (both of you) we started with a 10 gallon 3 years ago, and we now have a gallon, but the fish are Rays deal!

Naw, they're not really 'zebra fish' ... just horizontally striped little fishies.

I have a little 2.5 gallon with a betta and 3 fancy guppies in it in my bedroom.
In the basement where the rescued piggers are, I have a 10 gallon with a pleco, 2 feeder goldfish and 2 fantails.
I'm getting a beautiful 40 gallon set up for christmas and I will move the 10 gallon occupants to that one I never realized how big goldfish can get till I started reading up!

*Erin's drifts sorta off topic* talk about water on the floor, I had a king sized waterbed that the heater burnt a hole in the mattress, THAT was a mess! Nevermind I was still SLEEPING in the bed when it broke! (okay that word I wanted isn't allowed) Dang heater malfunctioned, never again will i have that bed set up unless I buy a 'normal' spring mattress for it!

I love my aquarium. It is very soothing and relaxing to watch. It is in my home office with my chin. Jade...since you have tropical fish, do you have a heater in yours? I do not need one with the oranda goldfish but one did come with my setup. I put a bubbler in the bottom and it looks really neat with the light on. I may add a snail or two soon. I gave my little 2.5 gal. aquarium with filter and two small oranda to my 83 yr old mother in law. SHE LOVES THEM! Its a great pet for a senior as they don't require too much work.

My Erin is the fish person of my family. Started begging for an aquarium when she was about 10. Fish give me the heebie jeebies, but being a General Mom I set about learning all I could about fish and off we went!
We started out with a 2 1/2 gal set up that kept her happy for a while - then went to a 10 gallon (which we learned by trial and error is about the easiest size to maintain) - then the 40 gallon high that is now home to ToTo (TuTu?) the Turtle (a red- eared slider) - then a 75 gallon that she has since sold. She has always loved cichlids and had a special attachment to Frontosa's. It helped when she worked in a pet store. She actually had some guy come up to her one day when she was looking at fish and tell her he couldn't believe a girl was interested in cichlids. She didn't appreciate it!
Jade, yours is so cool looking! Never seen one like that - but haven't had to fish shop in a few years, either. Erin has the turtle in one corner of her den, a 10 gallon on her kitchen counter (not sure what's in it), and a Beta that gets moved around a little.
I always liked those little frogs.
