My fish had babies!

well, i was sitting on the couch today and looked over at the tank and noticed some weird looking air bubbles. well, someone had babies! haha! i think it was my Zebra-Danio, Goldie. there is a small possibility that it was my new fish, Snowball (can't remember what kind she is - but will find out soon). but i really think it was Goldie cause i kept noticing her getting bigger since i've had her. sometimes i even thought she'd eaten Bert.

so we have about 25 little babies! i can't believe it! i'll post a pic soon!

they are cute.

Did the danio dig out a "den" under anything that she could have laid eggs in? Since Molly's and Platys are live bearers they could have them anytime.

My hubby turned his 125 gallon into fresh water a while back. He gave up on the saltwater thing because we can't get healthy saltwater fish locally. We are now waiting on some chiclid eggs to hatch.

i'm not sure if she had laid eggs or not. the thing is, i doubt it cause i just cleaned the tank about 4-5 days ago. and i don't think that's long enough to lay eggs and have them hatch. so you think it was my Molly?

btw - the white fish is a Balloon Molly!! Steph (veggers) was right!!
and the other one is still a Chinese Algae Eater.

If you doubt there were eggs, i'd bet on the molly. Since its a white balloon molly i'd say they are her babies.

Was the molly in a tank with male and female mollies? Female livebearers can become pregnant really easily if they are in a tank with males. Water changes or stressful situations can trigger the birth of the babies. She was probably pregnant when you got her and then had the babies in your tank. Now you are going to have lots of mollies! And if you keep them together, you will have lots more mollies! Guppies, platies, and mollies breed so easily. I used to have guppies and I ended up with like 50 of them! I had to take some to my favorite fish store because I couldn't keep them all.

Well, I first want to congrat you on the babies. I had the same thing happen to me with my Danios. I cleaned out the tank THOROUGHLY and then baby fry appeared shortly after. So I wouldn't rule out your danio yet We'll just have to see how they grow!
