new fancy tail

Well I told my husband no more fish. 5 goldfish and one fancy tail were enough to take care of along with the other "critters" we have. Since Little Guy injured himself and is not able to be outside in the pond my husband felt bad he was all alone in the tank. Little Guy is so much better now but still working on regrowing fins. We stopped at the petstore to get him more melafix and my husband just mentioned he wanted to look at the fish. I was not getting one until I saw her. She (I think "she" looks like a girl) is just the cutest little thing I have ever seen. This tiny little fancy tail. She is orange with some black on her. She has a large spot on the top of her head. We aren't sure if we are calling her Spot or Speck. I am glad we got her, although, i am not sure if Little Guy cares one way or the other.

Her daddy decided to name her Gretta. I have no idea where that came from but I think it's adorable! Little Gretta scared the crap out of me twice yesterday. I came down in the morning to tail fins sticking out of the castle. I thought she died and fell in there or had gotten stuck. I freaked stuck my hand in to try and pull her out and she moved down and swam out just fine. Then last night (we had been out) we came home and looked for her. She wasn't in the tower part of the castle like in the morning, we checked the filter, we checked the floor, we checked the dog dished and still could not find her. We were freaking out. Then my husband who usually cleans the tank remember the hole in the back of the castle. He tilted it and I peeked in. She was inside just hanging out! She swam out and was happy as could be. We had made a mess looking for her though. I also noticed that she had red spots on her that she hadn't had that morning along with a little white spot on the red spot. I was worried she had hurt herself in the castle but Jay felt she couldn't have. I didn't like the looks of the white spots so I grabbed the antibiotic that Sasami told me about. On the back it described how she looked. Hemorgephic (sp?) something or other. So Jay did a partial water change to clean up some of the skin we found in there and I dropped in the proper dose of the antibiotic. The white dots were gone this morning. But she is still red. I will keep an eye on her. She ate last night though and was happy again this morning. I am more worried about little guy he seemed a little "depressed" or maybe he is still resting a lot and I just don't realize it b/c I am usually at work!
