Odd habit in betta

We have a Crown Tail Betta here that we oridinally had in a 33 gallon comunity tank, but is now in a seperate bowl because of complication(not associated to the story, really) including the tank springing a leak, and then getting trapped in the filter after moving them all into the smaller 10 gallon, and being picked on by some of the tetras.

Anyways, back to the habit. Since we got him, when he sleeps, he lye under a plant, on his side. He's not sick or anything, but I was just wondering if anyone else had a betta that does this, or is ours just odd?

I have seen them do this, however none of mine have. It may just be a thing he does. Is he a vailtail, I have never had a veiltail, but I have heard that sometimes, their tails get to heavy for their body so they have to rest a lot.

Wow, I never heard of that one. I don't know about 'veiltail', but he's a crowntail and it does get him into trouble every once in a while(how he got stuck in the filter).
I guess my betta is just opne of the odd ones.

It's normal...bettas all have their own ways of sleeping . I knew someone who had a betta that would curl up inside a plant...almost like a dog.

yeah we had one that did that too and until we got used to it scared us half to death. and speaking of bettas having funny habits like dogs and stuff a friend of ours had a betta who liked to be pet. he would swim right to the top and wait for her to pet his back.

My betta sleeps in allsorts of positions, he normally sleeps on the top of the filter though. Bruce likes to be petted to and loves attention and likes nothing more for me to sit next to the tank and talk to him. He also takes food from my fingers at feeding time

Another odd habit that has been scaring me half to death, I saw him do this for the first time yesterday- He buries his head in the gravel when he sleeps. Anyone's do that?

I know, The first time I saw it I thought he was either stuck or dead, now I'm just worried he's going to knock himself out while he's moving the rocks. He is one odd betta.
