Maintenance difficulty:
This fish is difficult to keep in captivity. Young specimens under 20 cm (8 inches) seem to adapt better to aquarium life than adults. They are finicky eaters and are therefore recommended only for experienced aquarists with large show tanks and availability of a large variety of foods
Maintenance:
It is important that you feed angelfish all kinds of live, frozen, and
prepared formula foods. Best to feed small amounts several times a day. A good formula that can be made at home consists of mussels, shrimp, squid, and spinach.
Habitat: Natural geographic location:
They are one of the more common Pomacanthids on the Great Barrier Reef. They like areas with lots of holes and crevices. They prefer rich coral areas with currents and moderate wave action. They are always on the move swimming from crevice to crevice in search of food. Found at depths from 1-20 meters (3-66 ft.)
Natural Foods:
Mostly sponges and algae.
Social Behaviors:
The Regal Angelfish is generally a solitary fish but can be found in pairs on rare occasions. Juveniles are found in deep sheltered caverns and have the same coloration as adults except for a spot on the dorsal fin which disappears as the fish grows older.

No special requirements. Normal temperatures for marine fish lies between 75 and 79 degrees.

Adults can grow to 25 cm (10 inches).
Minimum Tank Length/Size:
A minimum 60 gallon aquarium is recommended.

Water Region: Top, Middle, Bottom
Will spend most of their time in the middle and lower portions of the aquarium.
Availability:
This fish is generally rarely available and is expensive.
