Anyway, so, I'm trying not to think about it anymore. I don't think I'm ready yet to get another betta, so....shrimp! I thought it might be a little weird to only keep shrimp but since you're doing it, then I think it's okay. So, do you need a filter with these guys? Or, like with bettas, will cleaning the tank every week be fine? I went to the petstore the other day to get hamster food, and was also checking out the aquatic section of the store. Most of the shrimp there were saltwater, though. Where did you get your freshwater shrimp?

Sorry to hijack your thread!

Yup, I have my shrimp alone in his own tank. I got him at a pet store, but they are very rare here.... I'm changing the water on his tank twice a week, cause he's a little piggie (he lets out a kinda sticky transparent thing that floats in water...) I'm thinking of getting a filter for him. There are some shrimp that you can keep in with fish, the one I have I have to keep him alone as he eats the fish. If you are going to keep it alone, you could also get crayfish. They are cute, but have to be kept alone as they also eat the fish. Oh, for crayfish you would also need a mesh lid as they like to go on walks... or at least the ones I had did liked to go on walks... lol.

Well, crayfish are probably even harder to get. You can't get them from the wild, right? My cousins and I found a little clear crayfish at the dam at our summer vacation...place last year, and I thought it would be so easy to bring it home with me...but, yeah, I was afraid if it might be against the law. And then there's the fact that I had absolutely no home prepared for it.

I've always felt a little nervous about having a filter because you have to cycle it and everything and I've never really understood how that worked. Maybe I'll just get my dad to do it for me.

Also, what kind of food would you feed it?

I think that crayfish are more common at pet stores than shirmp? At least here they are... Maybe you can check a fishstore? Well, I fish my shrimp tetramin tropical tablets (for bottom feeders) and shrimp pellets.
