Question

Something protruding from my Betta's mouth???

I just went to play with Suchin, one of my two female Bettas, when I noticed something was protruding from her mouth. It looks like, well, strangely enough...a really thin fishing line! It's sticking out of her mouth about a centimeter or two.

I have NO idea what it is, and I can't really examine it because she's my quick one. She's very active and when she sees me, she's even more active. But it oddly looks like a very thin or fine fishing line.

And if it is? I have no idea how it got in her home! Nor why it'd be sticking out of her mouth. I mean, did someone go fishing in my Betta's tank?

I'm open to thoughts and suggestions. Should I attempt to pull it out, assuming I can even grab ahold of it? What should I do?

Studying Suchin as best as I could, the thing protruding from her mouth also kind of looks like a transparent hair. But how could a hair get stuck in her mouth, if it is one? It doesn't move like a hair either, really. It does flex a bit when she backs up or swims forward, but mostly it's pretty rigid, like a thick thread or something.

This is sooo weird.

Update

OK, um, hm... Tried to get a closer look at whatever it is stuck in her mouth. She swallowed more of it, so now only the tiniest bit is showing. Ack! I got a pic of her but it doesn't really show up in the pic.

She does not seem to be bothered by this...thing... No apparent pain or discomfort. Still very active, lively, and ate with no problem.

Update on the update:
Now I cannot see the thing protruding from her mouth at all.

How weird. Maybe it was a hair, or a thread that got in somehow. Could it possibly have been a worm? I've had thread-like worms in my tanks. They lived in the gravel and I would see them poking out. I've heard their eggs are in the tapwater. Maybe your fish ate one?

No, I don't think so. As I said, it's a rigid thread-like thing that flexes slightly when Suchin swims. It doens't look like a worm of any kind. Plus, why would it be stuck, of all things? She could have just swallowed it up and I never would have seen it. (I think you're speaking of planaria? I got that too. It's still in one of the tanks. Trying to get rid of them all. If it's planaria, they come in with real plants, and hang out in the gravel. They show up when there's too much waste or food or something along those lines.)
