Starting New Tank: Location bad?

I am starting a new tank and have only one worry. I am placing it in my office in front of a window. Is this bad? Is it too much light/sun for a fish tank to be in front of a window?

From what I have hear it is bad. The sunlight can affect the water temp, causing it to fluctuate & it also causes major algae growth. I wouldn't recomend it.
