this may be a stupid question but..


well on another forum i was browsing threw.. they were talking about feeder guppies and the lot.. so i was wondering.. what eats guppies? turtles maybe? tis all i can think that might... heh i dunno..

i don't know about turtles but there are some fish that eat guppies.

Larger fish eat guppies. Oscars, cichlids, etc.

somehow i could never use feeder fish for my amphibians....i always fed them flakes instead

I feed my turtle now feeder fish and I used to feed my oscar feeder fish.

I feed my African Clawed frog feeder fish, but they're rosie reds. I imagine she'd also eat guppies if they aren't much bigger. I like the feeder fish over the food pellets because of the water quality - she makes SUCH a mess with the pellets.

i think tiny/small snakes (ribbon snakes) eat feeder fish...

Thanks for all the replies.. i guess i just never thought of guppys as feeder, usually when i hear people talking about feeders there talking about small goldfish

Well, guppies are smaller, neater, and breed like rabbits. So they are a good feeder .

Minnows are used, too.

Yes,I give my turtle minnows every now and again,but they are hard to find here.

Goldfish are actually higher in fat and protein and so guppies and minnows are better as feeders too.

Very true! Goldfish seem more likely to be carrying diseases as well. I never feed them to anything.
