Unhappy

uh oh :(

Is it normal to have red worm like things with white tips inside the gills? My smallest oscar has not been able to eat or close his mouth for awhile now, i will have to euthanize him if he does not get better. As i was saying, they look like little worms about 1 cm long each, with white tips, and they are bright red. I never noticed this before, are they supposed to be there or am i looking at parasites, bacterial infections, or fungus of some kind?

A parasite most likely. Head to your LFS and get Maracyn, or something similar for parasites. Depending on how weak he is, you might be able to save him. Act now, don't wait.
