The Wal-Mart closest to us has dead fish floating in the tanks almost everytime we go there.

The walmart closest to me has just remodeled the pet section (all they sell is fish and supplies) but the one night I was there, we met a very nice employee that specializes in pet care, Ray talked to hime FOREVER so I guess we are lucky.

I agree! Our walmart is awful! I clean their tanks for them occasionally. When its so discusting and stinky ya just can stand it anymore. I get the mass majority of my fish from breeders, specialist, or collectors, or from a privatly owned LPS but VERY seldom from a chain store.

It's funny, we only really have acouple independent pet stores here, one is in a mall, and they are HORRIFIC!!! Their staff knows NOTHING.. and the manager actually told me one time that he doesnt care about the animals as long as they keep goin out the door.

We have a second one that is very new, and so far FANTASTIC! They have it nicely laid out, with BIG CAGES.. I asked the owner if he would like to have one of my chins for his store, and he said he didn't have a big enough cage, I WAS AMAZED. so I brought him in one of my big cages, and he went out and bought the same cage for future chinnies. I am very impressed

But Don't even get me GOING on Petcetera!!!!!

Yeah, Large corporations get out of control. And do you really think the guys raking in all the $$$ give a crap about some fish? They don't. Now you all have me paranoid and I have to keep checking out all the fish when we go to any pet place. (Ray is usually in the fish/Toirt section) while I am looking at cuter furrier animals.
