Red-Nose Pit Pup Needs Loving Home
Okay, well you may remember me talking about possibly getting a red-nose pit puppy into rescue...The owners did indeed decide he needs to be rehomed.
Red is a 5 month old, Red Nosed Pit from a kind of vauge background. He was rescued at just over 2 months from a known fighting breeder's house. He has never been fought, but as what happenes with 'Game' bred pits, he has some slight issues. The owners have another pit named Messiah, (Kali's puppy and Orion's brother) and they were hoping that the two dogs would get along fine...as what often happens when two male pits live together, Red is beginning to attempt to dominate over Messiah. Messiah is VERY good natured and is letting Red dominate him by allowing Red to eat all Messiah's food causing Messiah to loose weight. Also the stress of Red constantly trying to dominate over Messiah is causing Messiah to loose hair and it could possibly lead to bringing aggressiveness out in Messiah that he doesn't currently posses.
Red is a good hearted puppy who really needs a pit-experienced home. He is NOT people aggressive at all but submissive to people. He is almost completely housebroken and a lover. No food aggression towards people either, but is with other dogs. He is also very hyper and could use some good obedience training which is starting on Monday and he will be worked with daily. Here is the kind of home this beautiful baby needs...if you can't provide exactly what he need, please do not contact me, but if you can, PM me as soon as possible. The owners are asking $150 adoption fee. He is currently not neutered but needs to be and contract signed to do so by potential owners.
Needs to be in ONLY dog home.
No Cats
Must be willing to Neuter!
Needs to be in pit experienced home
Owners have to be willing to crate (he is crate trained)
Needs fenced backyard
No small children in household
Must have someone home with him during the day for the full first year
Must be a house pet, no outdoor kenneling
Clean criminal record, no dog fighting
Must be willing to allow unannounced home checks
If you think you can provide Red with a good loving home, please contact me at cutiepeach26@earthlink.net Pictures will be up on Friday. Thanks

Unannounced home checks? That means I'd have to clean my house from top to bottom daily. I don't feel comfortable having company over unprepared. House must be clean! LOL.
Actually it wouldn't be a problem for me if I were near to you and able to get a Pit. But I've never owned a Pit before so that wouldn't work. And currently I live with a dog and cat. Anyway... Hope you find Red a great home! I bet he's such a cutie. I love those red noses. *gush*

Nope it wouldn't work for you, a pit owner really needs to be firm and not an easy push over as they are extremely stubborn and if you let them get away with something once, there is ALWAYS a chance you'll let them get away with it again, so they'll keep trying until the day they die! Also, a dog and cat in the house just won't work for this particular guy...he really needs to be in an only dog home.
We ask to be willing for unannounced home checks because of several reasons...we don't care if your house is spic and span, but we have to be sure things are going well and that no neglect or abuse has taken place. We HAVE had to take dogs back before because of that...read Roxie's Story at http://home.earthlink.net/~cutiepeach26/id9.html Luckily she had a good ending. We also are VERY against dog fighting...people may pass criminal checks okay, but that doesn't mean they don't fight dogs...it only means they've never been caught. You can usually tell by scarring on an animal if they've been used in dog fighting. A potential owner and experienced pitty owner should understand that. We've never had a problem finding homes in the past that were willing to agree to unannounced home checks...usually we give some notice though...make sure someone will be home first at least. Out of 16 pit pups placed, only Roxie has had the unfortunet experience of being neglected and abused.

When have I ever given off a "push over" vibe, by the way? I had an ACD, you know. I think I could handle a pit. I just haven't ever considered seriously owning one, until recently. But it wasn't serious serious, as I can't have one. I've thought of rescuing one from the pound. Maybe one day when I've got the right setup for one.
I know dogs and right now I'm not setup for a Pit.
Sorry to hear about Roxie's misfortune. Sigh. Glad it was a happy ending. *reading*

I'm sorry you thought that I gave the impression that you had a "push over" vibe...either way, you don't meet the criteria. Don't take it personal, most people won't meet it. I have 2 pits and 2 small children, so therefore I don't meet the criteria to actually "keep" this guy either so please try not to be offended.
To all:
"Good Luck" and posts like that are fine, but please refrain from showing interest in adopting Red unless you feel you meet the criteria listed. Thank you

I'm sorry I haven't got the pics up, but am happy to report that Red will be going to his new home on Monday!! He's being adopted by our friends Chris and Crystal, so we'll be able to see him all the time. They are really excited about getting Red and already have his neuter appointment set. The only thing was they also have a female Boxer, but after them meeting, Red and Chloe are getting along wonderfully and Chloe loves to play with other dogs, so I'm sure all will be good!
As for Messiah, Corine is going to try to keep him for now. He was Daniel's dog and was very much a Daddy's boy. If she can keep him, we are sure that his behavior will get better now that he won't have to compete with Red for attention, but if for some reason she can't keep him, Daniel's uncle wants him. Keeping Messiah in the family is really important to Corine now that Daniel is gone. Either way, both dogs are covered and have good and loving futures ahead for them.

Update: Chris decided due to opening a new motorcycle shop, his wife working 2 jobs, their baby, AND their female boxer, they didn't have the time they needed to dedicate to Red. However, his partner in the motorcycle shop recently lost his 15 year old Rottie to kidney failure after spending thousands on dialysis trying to keep him going...Dennis decided he wanted to share his life with another dog and adopted Red. He'll still be spending his days at the shop with Chris and Dennis, but he'll spend his evenings in the comfort of his new loving owner. Here's a few pics of the goofy boy that I FINALLY got. (and yes, his eyes are indeed green!)
