Anything I can do with shedded skin? ^^

I was wondering if theres anything I could do with shedded snake skin as opposed to throwing it in the trash...?
Can I donate it anywhere?
Can it be used for anything?

Sounds gross eh? ^^
But is shedded skin of any use? =]

I can't think of anything, really, but then again, my mind is tired from 36 sleepless hours

However, I understand completely. I hate to throw them away myself. In fact, I have multiple reptile sheds and invertebrate molts saved in drawers. Perhaps someone will come and enlighten us as to what we should do with them

You can decorate your home with them!

Really though, I haven't found any real use for them. I'll usually bring one to education programs so the kids can see it. Sometimes high school or college classes can use them in biology labs, but that's few and far between.

Thanks for the suggestions Ravnos& Vanilla_Rat (hehe,I personally like the look of christmas trees with lights as opposed to snake skin though Interesting for sure, but I wouldn't want snake skins around the other 11 months in the year )

I can't find anything to do with them either.
Thats like I have had a tarantula molt for awhile...& just threw it away after.
I can't find any use for either.
I like the decor ideas you both gave, but I was hoping I could donate it elsewhere, after awhile that must become quite the collection! & I have too many collections of other things as is
The high school near me don't accept skins or molts.
A college might though.
I personally think that being able to see molts& skins would be fasinating to students.
I know I was interested in it.& I like being able to observe the skin& molt after.
It's neat! ^^.

Thanks for googling pinkie!!

hermitman64 ,it does seem like a waste doesn't it?
Throwing out skins& molts...
There must be some strange person out there somewhere that collects them though.I retract the "strange" statement,I think it would be a neat collection.
Not for me though,I'm more into geeky collections (nintendo, anime, manga, star wars...all the good stuff girls should like! ) I'll keep my eyes open though& if I find something i'll post it here.

P.S. Neat picture Ravnos.^^
What snake did the longest shed come from?

Ok,that would be awesome,I threw the one Cosmo had today in the garbage ...BUT if you know someone interested in snake skins& tarantula molts let me know i'll save them up .
The skin & molts come off nicely.
Charlotte's molt literally looked like a second tarantula& Cosmo's shed came off nicely in one piece.
I'll have my additional tarantulas soon,so that'll be molts from 3 different kinds,& my 2nd snake hasn't shed yet. ^^

Hehehehe...speaking of T molts! I have a funny story.

We were in Pet City before and Amanda is deathly afraid of spiders.Well this guy that worked there named Joeseph, well he took the molt from the T there and he put it in abox and was going to scare his friend.Of course I wanted to see it.He had it in a box used to put mice and other small animals in,so I told Amanda to come look at the cute little hamster and when she looked in the box and seen the T molt (which looked just like the T,as you mentioned)...she almost peed her pants and ran off! I found iot hilarious, because it was just the skin.

Anyway I will ask and if I can find someone,I will pass on their email or whatever to you! There are some people I talk to who are interested in snakes and things and they may want them or may have suggestions!

I should send Amanda a tarantula molt for badness!!!
Did you die laughing @ her?

Nah I won't send her a molt,that wouldn't be nice of me...

hehehehe...or would it?? ^^
J/k J/k.

Definately let me know if you find out what I can do with the skins/ molts.
It does seem like a waste to just dump them.

You might be able to compost a shed skin for a garden.

It's green and it returns nutrients to the food.
