:bfly: Most of the time it takes her about 30 to 40 min. to eat a rabbit of say 8 to 10 pounds, but sometimes she takes alittle longer.. the rabbit in this pic took 28 mins to get down.. shes a slow eatter... Im glad you all like the pics, not many people get to see how a snake eats when they dont own one...

Great pictures as usual! I echo Lizgirl, I too am glad you are here, you really do add so much :bfly:

I have a question that may sound silly to you...

Is the reason that they constrict around the prey to crush and make it pliable and make it easier to get it down?

Thank you so much for the education I am getting! You do a fantastic job explaining everything. I am learning so much!

:bfly: Deja its not a prob at all asking me things, as for constricting, they do it to crush the lungs so the prey dont breath no more, simply suffocate its prey, but what they dont realize is the prey is already dead.. LOL!!! Dont worry there is no suffering going on here with any prey animals, they are all pre killed and frozen.. As for making it easier to get down not at all they can take it down with no probs at all.. sometimes they dont start feeding on the head like they are supose to and actully eat the butt first.. or they try to eat it sideways.. And thank you all once again for letting me be apart of such a wonderful forum...

Ohhh see! That made too much sense- constricting to suffocate it I thought it had to be more

It just seemed like it would be very hard to move the prey down so I thought constricting around it for a while would kind of crush it up and make it easier
I have too much time on my hands to think

Thank you for the great animal education Tracey- it's sooo interesting!! I find it facinating, and you really know your animals!! :bfly:
