Cool

Big Delilah (eating carnivorously) Pics

 Heres big Delilah eatting her 2 week prey item.. shes getting big and just maybe by this time next yr she will be pushing 10ft... And yes all prey items are dead way befour she gets um, we use only pre killed frozen thawed prey for all our snakes as live might hurt them.. She never realizes its dead anyways but she coils it for about 10 to 15 mins befour she starts eatting it..

heres a shot of her upside down thats the bottom of her jaw you see and this gives you another idea of how much they can stretch to get food items down..

Here you can see how she postions her part of the body where the rabbit is so it gets the most heat for digestion.. Hehehehe!! what a fat girl she is.... Now she will be ready to eat again in about 2 weeks and more than likely she will go into the blue- shed after a few more days as thats what she always does, she eats well then sheds and then eats again and sheds again... shes growing really well for being as old as she is and for her size most slow down once they reach a certain size, but not big D shes just a power house... Plus shes the sweetest boa to own, never hurt no one never tried to bite and is just very easy going....

A question for ya (pardon my ignorance! )

Do they digest everything including the fur and the bones?? I've heard that some may regurgitate these items but I wasn't sure if I should believe that since they would really have to work it back up!

Its np Scarlette, they digest everything but the fur.. sometimes a snake will regurge food items, because there not warm enough or the food item was bad or the snake was held right after eatting or even if the snake is sick... Sometimes there might be a small bone or a toe nail or tooth that passes out without being digested.. But they always pass fur..

Wow... that is very interesting! How long does it taker her to eat from start to finish?
Snakes are very fascinating creatures... (as long as there are not physically in the same room with me)

Thanks for sharing that!!!
