No snakes right now,but would love a corn in the future.
I used to want a ball python,as I ADORE pythons.I have met some and they were awesome! However a few people I talked to mentioned that you cannot have live rats and mice in the house (pets I mean) or the snake will go beserk and become aggressive.I love snakes, but love pet rats more and so if I can't have pet rats,I aint gonna get a python.
I am not sure how true that is,but until I find out from TRUE snake people,I will not take chances.

But some people breed mice& rats..?
I wouldn't.
I'd just keep everything,I bond with everything
But all I heard of was just keep them in seperate rooms.
Not saying thats not true, but I haven't heard that.
Maybe Mygala can help?
He is very informative when it comes to a lot of "different" pets!

Well Camille and Kjaerstin both told me that...so I dunno.
I know people breed their own feeders.Thats what I am going to do if I get a snake, because that way I know where the food comes from and can make sure they are healthy.
Bob is greyt! I loves him, because he knows so much!

Camille told me Asda was eggy.
I found out myself she wasn't,& I haven't
bred a thing like that in my life.
Don't always go by what breeders say

True,true.
And I don't always go with what breeders say, unless I am 1000% sure they know what they are talking about, which don't happen much, cuz I can't trust people.
I rather just do loads and loads of research.

^^^Thats the absolute best way to be.
Some breeders just want some extra $$$.
So they'd tell you whatever.
You really have to be choosey.

I have MANY snakes as I have said before and I have 4 pet rats too. I keep them in seperate rooms but I have NEVER heard anyone say you can't have pet rats/mice and snakes. Whoever told you that was greatly mistaken.
That said, Duff the colombian boa we have did nip at hubby after he had held one of the rats. But hubby is an idiot and should have washed better between holding them. Usually I tell the kids to change their shirt and wash up their arms and hands before holding the snakes after holding the rats.
The snakes don't go beserk and they have been held in the same room even on the same chair/couch that the rats were just running on. It also doesn't bother the rats at all. People are just so ignorant sometimes.
Corns are great pets for the beginning snake owner but they don't like to sit still. Well they will once they are older but under 2 they are usually very active.. Ball pythons on the other hand are more than happy to sit with you calmly. I say as long as you educate yourself and learn all you can about the breed BEFORE you get one.. and not just from reading.. you have to ask a lot of questions....then a ball python would be a great pet for a first time pet owner.. but you have to have a lot of patience.

canadiancritter ,your snake is so cute !!!
Murphy - I know of quite a few people with Ball Pythons& rats& mice in their house, even gerbils etc.
That's why I was wondering why or where Lisa heard that.
I haven't,but I only actually "got into" reptiles this year.
So glad it's not true!!
The breeders I know...They were kept in a seperate room [the rats etc] since they were for food
But the snake rooms were just across the hall& I never met those snakes before till @ that moment& they were really well behaved.
I can get a ball python in the near future
I'm on the list for one from a breeder in St.John's.
My corn is 3 now.Not as slithery as the younger ones (especially hatchlings I seen!!) but still won't stay still for long yet .
He's cute though...so forgiven

You'd be surprised, I had a hamster that escaped once, and a year later I found that she had dug a burrow in the front garden and lived there for a whole year, I don't know how she survived the winter, or the cats in the local area! :o

Clearing this up in all my threads regarding this snake.
I got into morphs etc,my snake is a snow.
Snow corn,not albino.
The yellow is very noticable.& It lacks both pigments which would make it a snow .(lack of black& red).
Being a novice I was looking at the eyes. Red eyes,I thought albino.Wrong.
How,not cool of me.
I'll x-post this in all my threads regarding this particular snake for other peoples future reference.
I apologize for listing the morph wrong.
