luvnature I am sorry to sound as if I am an English grammar teacher but the animal is venomous and not poisonous but that is another story.
I take more of a chance driving on a public road to go catch a snake than the act of catching and handling the animal. I have more of a chance being killed in an office block lift than through a snakebite.
I can go on but you have made up your mind due to a perception, which I hear and deal with every day of my life so take no offence.
Do you know that more people are killed in the USA and the UK by horses than snakebites?

..my bad!! your right they are venomous!! thats the correct word!
Im not offended at all by what you have explained above. But let me explain something to you so that we are understanding one another..
I am not putting down your hobby in any way at all either and am sorry if you are offended by what you believe is my perception. I have nothing at all against snakes or you.

I was just pointing out an observation that i think you have a dangerous hobby. That is all i was saying. Dealing with venomous animals is dangerous, so one can say that its not dangerous. Your words were "not at all". I think that it is and thats my opinion. If its what you like to do im no one to tell you otherwise and was not trying to say anything of the sort. Above all, Im not trying to argue with you.
It sounds like you took offense to an observation on my part. Im sorry if thats the case. If its not and your fine...then thats even better.

And yes i am aware that more people are killed in the USA and the UK by horses than snakebites. Not surprising

Im glad your here to share information and pics with us.

Thanks no worries. My wife had the same perception and it is still under the surface but she is more concerned about her personal safety when I bring these chaps home. I took my wife with me a couple of times and asked her to ignore what I was doing and watch the audience’s faces.
This was about eight years ago and she still marvels at what she saw.

Dangerous is a very relative term. The training and the tools make all the difference. I have posted this pic on other forums:

Having the appropriate tools is very important when it comes to dealing with venomous snakes safely, and when used properly, by someone who knows the animals they are working with, the relative danger is minimal. Is it ever completely safe? Of course not. Anyone who tells you otherwise is insane, but just like anything entailing risk the training and the experience mitigate some of the danger.

Keeping venomous snakes in captivity entails much more risk than just doing removal, as venomous snakes can have the same kinds of problems as every other species of snake - including retained eye caps/shedding problems, mites, internal parasites, etc. That can require more "intimate" contact, but again, there are tools specifically designed to reduce the risk to the keeper and to the animal. I have some snakes in my collection that I have never physically touched - simply because there has been no need.

Thanks Doll you have a good weekend. My brother and family are visiting from Glasgow so will be accompanying them on a scenic tour around the coast tomorrow so, no snakes for me as his wife has some serious phobias.
Cheers will luvnature & Co.
