Baby Rankins Dragons!

I think I just mentioned this in passing before, but Chris has been on a couple of breeders waiting lists to get baby rankins dragons. He's wanted them for a few years now.

When I woke up this morning we had an email from one of the breeders letting us know that her first clutch of babies has started hatching! I don't know if we're going to get any of the babies from this clutch yet, it depends on how far we are down the waiting list and how many/which ones are left by the time our name comes up. But the breeder sent me a couple of pics of the hatching/newly hatched babies and I can't resist sharing them!

Now we just have to play the waiting game to see when we get ours. The breeders don't sell them untill they're 6-8 weeks old at least. So in 6-8 weeks we'll see where we are on the list and if we get any of these babies, or have to wait for the next clutch to hatch.

Arn't they cute? I'm excited that I'm going to have reptiles again, even though they're techniquely going to belong to Chris.

They're slightly smaller than bearded dragons full grown. I think the normal length for Rankins is 12" to 13", while normal bearded dragons are 15" to 24".

Yup they're sapose to be almost exactly like bearded dragons, except for smaller and from what I read, they are more social with each other and easier to keep in groups than beardies are.
