Bearded Dragons
Anyone else own a bearded dragon? I own a young little guy named Axel...please tell me about yours!!! I would like to learn some stuff about bonding, because Axel doesn't depend on me much and would rather adventure around the house than be with me....
Tell me about your beardie!

Sorry,I don't
I'm debating getting one though.
Any pics of your little guy?
I think thats common with a lot of herps...lizards,reptiles,snakes..
my geckos "tolerate" me.It's like yay shes going to take me out...yay she's giving me food, all yay..something.
Not saying they hate my guts, but I do think creatures like that aren't as bondable as say rats, dogs, cats etc.
My snake is the same way.
All "yay food" "yay I'm out of the cage".
Same with my turtles.
So please don't be offended if the beardie don't start cuddling up to you & such.
In my experience with reptiles...they really do 'tolerate' us for the most part, but love to just do their own thing

my iguana snuggles with me sometimes i love it. do alot of things with them that they need to depend on you for security... i like taking mine outside, and when new people are around he is my best friend and hides in my hair... he calms down when i tell him its ok too and if he is unsure about something he searches for me and climbs up my arm.. i love him...
I have no experience with beardies... i would try walking him and giving him baths and just work with him more everyday

Thanks guys, beardies are the kind of lizards that can be compared to dogs in certain ways. Some will cuddle.
Check out this link, it has some beardie personalitles. Some of them sound like the best little lizards

Here are some pictures of him that I posted a few days after I got him. He was really skinny, small, and stunted because the careless owner dumped in the cold in Decemeber in front of Starbucks

Thanks!
Now he's 14 inches long, and can be a total poop sometimes, but he can sure be a sweetie sometimes, too.
Everyone of them have their own personalities, which I think is really cute. My mom even feels compassionate for him...lol

Yeah, but if fed properly they grow rapidly.

I love beardies! Definatly a reptile I want someday.
They are known as the "dogs" of the reptile world.

Ah,now that I didn't know about beardies.
I was assuming they would just 'tolerate' things like some other herps I kept before.& Like my "yay this or that" critters now.
My leopard geckos climb my arms& such, but I just think they are looking for a warm spot, good luck finding a warm spot on me,I always feel like ice
Very cute beardie !!!
& I totally forgot about iguanas too.
Lisa showed me a pic a few years back of an iguana someone had that they brought around .

Yeah I use to have an iguana too, and she looved to cuddle and go outside for walks with me. I miss her!
I've never had a beardie but I always hear about how friendly they can be. My boyfriend wants to get a few once we get our own place.
Anyways, how old is Axel? Cuz with my iguana - she got much more friendly the older she got. At first she would just explore the house too, but then she would start to come to me more to beg for food or cuddle. Maybe when he's older he'll get more friendly?
I use to take my iguana outside too. I think maybe you could take him outside, or walk around the house with him for awhile - let him see how much fun it is to hang out with you. Then maybe he'll start seeking you out.

Thats Wally and his iguana,Rex! They still are around, live in the downtown area and he still takes Rex everywhere he goes in the summer. It's cute. They are quite bonded and Rex is really friendly.
My geckos just tolerate me.They like climbing over me and Bear loves my head, but thats because it's warm!
