Madagascar day gecko - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

the one i knew in the pet store i volunteered at was VERY feisty! and would bite and bark at anyone, you had to wear leather gloves to handle it.

Day geckos are typically pretty defensive and high strung. I've had a few over the years, and they were all the same. Fast moving, hated being handled (and shouldn't be, their skin can tear very easily), and if they couldn't run up the wall out of reach, were quite happy to bite. The one I have now is named Jaws just for that reason. They are definitely a "display only" type of pet.

Mud - That linked worked for me! : Giant Madagascar Day Gecko: WhoZoo

thanks for both links

Ravnos - very cute pic of Jaws
They are a really nice looking gecko.Still trying to figure out if they would be the pet for me. (I'm "ok" with having a couple pets as display only, getting 2 tarantulas & 2 scorpions,& I'm pretty much having them as a display pet since they fasinate me. & It's not wise to handle those pets much in general )
I know of ways I can clean the tarantulas habitat & scorpions without actually touching them (should I mention, such a bite or sting could be fatal to me ? )

But any tips on cleaning the geckoes habitat?

we used leather gloves to carefully 'shoo' it into a smaller portable cage then went about our business cleaning (non chemical of course) then put the smaller cage that we 'shooed' him into in his cage and he'd climb out on his own then we'd take out the little cage
