The leos are lovely! I'm wondering why you chose moss for a substrate, given that their natural environment is desert?

Thank you... we found a website that said we could use astro turf and/or moss so we went out and found moss...they seem to like it so we left it in there with them...

It looks lovely, I have live moss with some of my dart frogs and can never get it to stay green all the time. =(

Hmm ... I don't know .. I mist it down everyday ... mine is actually starting to grow grass ... lol

i think higher temps kill it easier .. do the frogs need it warmer than the geckos? I've never kept frogs...

I think ours may be a different kind of living moss- yours looks taller than what mine is supposed to look like. We usually mist a couple of times a day because the epdiobates tricolors like it moist, but I've let it get drier at times, to see if that helps. It doesn't seem to have a direct correlation to anything I do, lol. Our house is usually around 75 degree year round, then the frogs have a plant light as well.

I wanted to use moss with my frogs (I have Whites) But I decided I wasn't sure how the "mess" would hold up in there. I have seen some beautiful terrariums that haven't been touched in 5 to 10 years - its all a little self sustaining eco system and I love the way they smell just like the fresh outdoors. Unfortunately my other problem is the fact that I can kill a plant in a matter of seconds just by looking at it funny. In fact I am due to go pick out some new pothos for my frogs this week!

I'm usually good with plants but that moss just doesn't want to cooperate! I have pothos and wandering jew that are 4' long!! I actually have real grass growing in our white's tree frog's enclosure. She tramples it in a couple of spots, but it's long it others. We've had our white's tree frog (Rana) for almost 5 years now =) They are so neat!

Most frogs are pretty long lived. I can't remember lifespan on a white's, but if she's with us less than 10 years, I'll be very disappointed.
