My new family member

I got a new iguana still just a baby.. Im trying to learn all i can about them and well.... I still dont know if its male or female of course its less than a yr... its about a foot long and really tame when its laying on my belly but in my hands it likes to wiggle.... it likes to play peek a boo... haha

But Im having problems getting it to eat I understand its a new enviornment for it and not really used to having so much love and effection....much less attention haha yea its the new member of our family and i may say I am very excited to see its growing progress..

If theres anyone here that can be my iguana buddy and help me learn more about them I would love to speak with you...

You HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO get a uvb bulb

his basking spot needs to be atleast 85 and no more than 100 degrees

i take it he is 12 inches nose to tail? what is his snout to vent (where his back legs start) length? 4 or so inches?

what are you feeding him?

His diet needs to be dark leafy greens like collards, turnip greens, and mustard greens

cut out any lettuce, spinnage, broccoli

and mix in fruits and veggies (never cook any thing)

don't use commercial iguana diets they are worthless they have meat in them most of the time

NO MEAT and i mean none!! no bugs, no eggs, no animal products what so ever

you said you have a 75 basking bulb? i'm not sure what that is...

I'm guessing your ig is about 3-6 months old (their growth changes dramatically with care before you get them)

good luck! and trust me its not tame.. its just not confident yet, you will go through spurts thinking its really tame and spurts when you could swear its a wild ig from you know where... think several months before you see that its starting to tame.. (i noticed a big change at 6 months of having kermit that he knows me more than others, and a big change at a year)
