New addition to the family

We have a new member in our family. A skink wandered into my classroom the other day, so I brought him home. My husband declared that we should create a terrarium and keep him. That is what we did this evening and the skink seems to be doing well.

We put a cricket in the cage yesterday and it disapeared, so we assume that he ate it since he had been stalking it earlier.

If anyone knows of any good skink sites, please let me know. We have basic skink information, but nothing particular. I will upload some pictures later.

Here's a few sites that may help you out. Didn't realize there were several different kinds of skinks!

What type of skink? Skinks are one of my favorite lizards - specifically the prehensile tails.

Thanks for the links. They have been very helpful.

Dena,
We are still trying to identify him. I think that he is probably a variation of the Skilton's Skink. He is only about 5-6 inches long and about as round as an adult's pointer finger. He seems to like his new terarium and is racing around.

I was checking to make sure I was in the right section, thinking the first skink I saw might have been skunk. Congrats on your new skink!
