*salutes* Lizard Catcher at your service!

I catch lizards in Central Oregon every year. I'm the only one with enough patience for it in my family. I just have to sit there on the grass until it comes close enough to grab. One time I got a big huge one about 6 inches long. I have no idea what it was but it was neat. I turn them loose though.

Very cool. My bro used to do that when we visited my grandparents in Cason City, NV. If you are able to identify them that would be cool. However, I don't know of any really good field guides.

Some of them looked very interesting. I think they were some kind of grass lizard. They had thin black and yello stripes on their body going from nose to tail base and their tail was bright blue. Any ideas?

Sounds like a western skink to me. Do a Google search, should be plenty of pics.

They do look similar but the ones I would catch had many more stripes and the yellow and black stripes were evenly spaced.

Sounds like a skink to me as well.

I caught one in my classroom last year and brought it home. We set up a terarrium and kept him for about 2 months. Then he got out and ate all the crickets running around the house. Then we caught him and let him go outside.

We had a hard time identifying him as well. I think there are a lot of variations of skinks, and I am not sure if there has been any extensive identifying.
