a bit worried about allison

I had noticed that allison was scratching alot. I have given her the flea ointment that goes between her shoulders, the flea bath, and no one gives flea dips anymore. Then last night i noticed she is red under her armpits, she constantly drags her belly along the floor. I am beginning to wonder if maybe she is having an allergy rather than fleas. any recommendations or ideas? im gettin a bit worried. she has never had this before.

What kind of dog is allison? My dog, Shadow is a golden and he has problems like that a lot. the vet said it is some kind of moist dermatitis or eczema. Something like that. Anyways, he gets times when his whole belly turns red. My one vet told me to give him childrens benedryl and that helps a lot.
Any dog with an undercoat is prone to skin problems because water can get trapped in the undercoat and irritate the skin. Maybe the flea meds irritated her skin.
I would call the vet tomorrow and see what they say because you don't want her to end up with a hot spot from scratching. Those are nasty and can cost a lot if they get really bad. Good luck. Hope you find what is making her so miserable.

Absolutely, get your dog to the Vet. My pup has environmental allergies & he was in a lot of discomfort. He now has prescription shampoo & conditioner which have worked wonders. Keep us posted on what's wrong with your furbaby. Give her a belly rub from me & Elvis Lee.

I Have A Question To All Who Read This. I Had Used Some Aloe Gel And It Cleared It Up In Seconds, Literally Seconds. I Was Amazed, I Totally Forgot I Had It. My Question Is, Are Dogs Allergic To The Aloe? She Needs Something To Relieve The Itching Until Tomarrow. Thank You.

the aloe should be fine also our vet always suggests triple anitbotic oitment on almost everything. sounds like just a rash if the aloe made it clear up

The Aloe should be fine to use until you bring her to the vet or a triple antibiotic ointment should be ok... please still bring her to the vet, especially if this has been going on for a while... getting a dog in to be seen sooner is better than later (and usually cheaper to, if you take your dog in at the beginning signs of something wrong, instead of when they are already really sick when the vet will have to work harder to get them better thus costing more $$)

It is possible that she is allergic to the flea medication you are putting on her and that is causing the problem... have you tried getting her on prescription flea meds they really are the best prevention against fleas... perhaps when you bring her in this week you can talk to your vet about flea prevention... bring in the stuff you are putting on her the vet might want to take a look at it.

I hope your dog is feeling better soon, give her a belly rub from me
