adopting a Greyhound

this is over a year off but when I get back from Antarctica I would like to adopt a greyhound. I was wondering what problems are usually encountered with these dogs, and do they make good pets? My parents have an Italian Greyhound and i love her temperment and attitude but i would like a full size greyhound.

greyhounds are wonderful. Retired racers are the best. Total couch potatoes. The adoption screening process is a bit hard though.

Its hard as in the screeners are VERY selective on who they adopt to. They'll likely do a home check, want references to include your vet.

I used to dog sit three retired racers...they lived long lives. I dont know how old they were when they got them, but two of them just recently passed away. I had been dog sitting them since I was in 6th or 7th grade and Im now almost 23 if that makes any difference to you. And I have to agree, they are the biggest couch potatoes! They were great dogs.
