I adopted both of our dogs. 1 is a shepherd mix and has lost her back leg. She has issues with men so I can only imagine what her other home was like. The other was neglected by his owners and had to have his eye removed. Got it jerked out by bigger dog and they waited 3 days to take it to the vet. By that time of course it had to be removed and they got upset and said to put him down. My neice who works for the vet asked them to give it to the clinic and they would find a home for it. She called me and I took him then and there. Great dogs both of them. We jokingly call ourselves the equal opportunity home.

We needed a particular breed due to our allergies. We searched shelter/rescue orgs for Months trying to find a Maltipoo....no one could tell us for certain what the breeds were for the adoptable pets. Rather than adopt, get attached to the dog & have to give it up if our allergies flared up, I decided to search for a reputable breeder.

I went to some who were blatantly puppy mills & BYB's. Although it is easy to fall in love with any puppy, I refused to do business with this kind of breeder. I Finally found a fabulous breeder, drove to his facility & fell in love with Elvis Lee. The breeder (Lee, Elvis has his name for a middle name) has since become a very good friend of mine. He is compassionate, loves all his animals as his children, he screens potential customers, calls the week after to make sure all is well with the pup, gives a lifetime guarantee, will only breed his females once or twice, has his staff playing with and loving the pups every day so they are very well socialized....

I am completely for adoption from a shelter or rescue org if the pet you find there is the right match for your family. If you chose to buy a dog, please do not go to a Pet Store (usually puppy mill pups), and please go to the breeders facility to check out everything, see the parents, cleanliness of the facility, ask for letters of recommendation etc, Before deciding to buy a pup from that particular breeder. whew....long post....thanks for listening....

corgimom will become famous soon enough
I voted adopt because we have adopted 2 and purchased one. We will adopt all future dogs, too, with the exception of the blue merle rough collie that I MUST have some day.

Lesson: Remember to take time to think about what's truly important. Oh, and give your pets a hug.

We bought both of our dogs. All of my cats have been given to us or found. Tabatha was found as well.
I do plan on adopting our next dog. We almost adopted a dachshund from TX last year. He was already taken though. One day I will have a rescue doxie. Tabby has really taught me the joy of rescue. I don't know why I never thought of the kitties as rescues. Even Bean and her sibilings who I got as kittens that needed to be bottle fed! I am not even sure how many we found and took in fixed and found homes for. My mom lives near apartments and many cats were just left behind when people moved. I don't know how they could just leave them go.
