Question

Advise for treating dog with skin problem

Hello !

My dog, a pomernian has been suffering from skin condition for last 3 months. She has dark ring-like patches on her skin all over her body. Her furs on those areas did not grow back after her last trim. She has been given different types of antibotics but her condition still does not improve.

Can anyone recommend Vets or pet clinic known for treating dog's skin condition with good results ?

Thanks.

Still Clueless

Hi ... We'd need to know where you live to recommend a vet.

What you are describing could be anything ... from mange to Pyoderma ... ringworm ... even a simple flea allergy.

It is relatively common but you should see a vet soon since it can be contagious.

Who was perscribing the antibiotics?

Definitely take her to the vets. If it is ringworm it is contagious to humans as well so keep an eye on your skin. It could also be a type of mange or allergies.....it could be anything. I don't know who to recommend as a vet since we don't know where you are located but any vet that treats dogs and cats will be able to diagnose a skin condition. If you have been giving your dog antibiotics for 3 months then it is possible that the dog has built up an immunity or whatever the skin condition is it is not sensitive to that antibiotic. All antibiotics are not the same (spoken like a true doctors wife) Anyhow we do have a section for vet listings on this forum or if you give us a specific location someone might be able to direct you to a great vet in your area.

Hello !

Thanks for sharing.. my dog (name's Bunnie) condition has made progress and part of her fur start to grow back. She was suffering from bacteria infection and was given antibotics treatment with evening primose oil tablets. Phew! such a relief after all these anxiety.

I don't know if egg yolks would help with a bacteria infection, but that helps my golden's coats when they lose hair....
