Please rule everything else out before you just put him on *relaxers*.

I hope you take everyone's advice seriously and get a full blood workup done. That would be the first thing I would ask about, not about relaxers.

CavyGrl is on a distinguished road
we know...he is getting blood work done and if nothing is wrong with him then we are going to ask about relaxers. the last time he was at the vet he had blood work done and it was totally normal. he is just terrified of almost everything. he hardly sleeps at all and when he does he has very strange dreams...he will twitch and cry....its terrible. no matter what we do he is still just terrified of everything. every once in a while he gets scared of me and my mom. my brother doesnt seem to bother him any more but he is still shy around him. but he is not so much afraid of him any more. he paces around the house all day. he is just a very nervous dog. even after 2 years almost every thing scares him. Now that we got the new puppy...he is more relaxed and he loves to play with him. he is starting to be very protective over him. maybe the puppy will help him?! who knows. i just feel so bad because there is not really anything we can do. the vet keeps saying that he is fine and that he is just nervous. he is a really good dog, even though he is almost 3 he still has accidents in the house everyonce in a while. it is really hard to train him because everything scares him. when we first got him he was too scared to go outside on his own so we had to carry him and then stand in the yard with him. but now he will go out on his own and he will stay out for about 10 minutes. he gets a little bit better every day but we are just worried that he is going to get really sick from his weight or even people thinking that we dont take care of him. well...i'll keep you posted on him. thanks for the help!

cavygirl ask about herbal nerve tablets...if your vet doesn't have them find a homeopath vet or even just ask a herbalist (humans can have them too). when we had Nacho he was on them and they were great, and I didn't have to worry about ruining his organs by the harsh chemicals in other relaxers. When we were prescribed prozac for him by the behaviourist they did nothing, they nerve tablets were doing their job! It could be a way to go that is healthier for your dog!
