I don't have a Westie, but I have a Yorkie. So I'm familiar with some small/tiny breed issues. So if you have a toy breed question, I can try and help you.

BTW - LOVE your username. Is that CoCo's full name?

yes!!! it is!! lol it's funny cause my little sister wanted a dog real bad...and she was like... lets name her coco..for coco chanel!!

then a few weeks later, i told my best friend that i was thinking of getting a puppy (all my pets are spoiled ROTTEN!!) and he was like... oh gosh... what are you going to name her? chanel?!

lol so she had to be named coco chanel! i got her a st. francis name tag (i spend bout $300 bucks on her before i even got her! lol) from drsfosterandsmith.com and it says CoCo Chanel on it... lol

She is so tiny~! i had to get her a kitty collar!!

i need all the help i can get!

there are so many questions... like when she's in a playing mood...and i'm lying on the floor to "play" with her...she'll literally fly at me and try to bit my face! how would i curb this behavior?

No westies here. They are a bundle of energy though, a friend I know has some.

I have a shepard mix and pug, so I know all about bundles of energy.

Well, when our silky/yorkie mix, lucy was a puppy, she was extremely rowdy, and she'd do the same thing, except when we'd lay down, she'd attack our hair being extremely tender headed, I cuved that behavior by using a loud NO and getting up when she got to rowdy, giving her the impression that if she's rough, she gets no more play time. Oh, and a GREAT place to look for collars/harnesses is Petsmart. They have a new line of collars/harnesses just for small dogs! We have 2 of their collars, and 1 of their harnesses! There's also a small "puppy" line and small "dog" line. So make sure you don't miss the smaller puppy ones because the others wouldn't fit our girls until they were older. Dixie is still in a puppy one, and she's 8mo, but Lucy is 7mo, and is in a dog collar. It'll depend on your pup. Good luck!

My parents have a Westie, which they got after I'd moved out of the house (only child) and my childhood dog had to be put to sleep at 17 years old. So, they refer to her (Sassy) as my little "sister", and she is an absolute terror! She's actually a doggie school dropout as we call her, because when they took her to obedience classes they trainer kept saying "this will work for everyone except the Westie". She has a stubborn streak at least a mile wide, lol! So, I guess I don't have much advice. Sassy is very smart and knows many commands - she just only listens when she wants to. Sassy is, at 4 years old, calming down very slightly. They are extremely high energy, extremely stubborn, and extremely...WESTIE. If you look at most Westie rescue organizations they require previous Westie experience...there are reasons for this, lol. My recommendation would be to find a trainer that specializes in this type of breed. After my parents had the bad luck with the first trainer, they did what they could on their own and it really just wasn't enough.
