Find a vet who does acupuncture. My old boss used to use acupuncture on dogs and we'd have dogs walking when they couldn't walk from the pain before that.
One of my dogs got arthritis at 8. We used acupuncture on her and she never had to go on meds for her arthritis and she died just before her 15th birthday.

sara8 is on a distinguished road
We use gluchosomine. Alot of dog foods have it right in them now, but you can also buy it in pill form. Our beagle has arthritis in his hips to. We give him "butt rubs" too.

Mel will become famous soon enough
Glucosamine & chondritin are great.

We used to give our elderly schnauzers rimadyl, which worked really well.
