Barking too much

When I took my pup to the vet this week he said that my dog looked like he was mostly GSD with a bit of Collie in him. He does have the ears of a Collie and I've always thought certain ways he looked at me he had a Collie look. Okay, so my question is do Collies bark a lot? I've been reading up but couldn't find anything on it. He barks just to bark, not like barking at things. If he's playing he barks, if he's running he barks. It's like he barks just to hear himself bark. I'm moving at the beginning of September. Where I live right now dog barking really doesn't matter at all. Is there anyway to keep him more quiet? He's in the house most of the time but if I go out to play with him he'll start barking or if he's playing outside with my other dogs he'll start barking. I don't want to cause any trouble with neighbors. I'm not too close to them but barking is pretty loud.
