BIG relief!

OMG! I'm so freaking relieved! Here is CoCo's estimate on getting her spayed, her hernia fixed, and microchipped:

Spay $220
includes: gen. anesth., ketaset, atropine sulfate, diazepam, prophylactic opthahmic meds, hospitalization, isoflurane, pulse meter, stures, rimadyl, etc.
Umbilcal hernia repair $94.34
pre surgical blood tests $57
micro chip $43.76
eliz. collar $13.95
-------------
estimate at $430

Humane society wanted $200, and they wanted to keep her over night on a weekend, with no one there, which I wasnt comfortable with!

So I found an ad in the paper for low cost spaying. They called me back today...and get this... they asked me a few questions such as if I received SSI, am disabled, or am on medicaid.... I'm all three! So I qualified...and get this... CoCo's vet participated in the program! So I can get her spayed for almost NOTHING at $10 BUCKS!!!

I am so freaking relieved!! Its amazing!

So she's going to get spayed soon! What should I get to help her with her recovery time?

Thanks so much in advance!

That is wonderful! It is expensive to have them spayed but it is so necessary. She should be fine. I would just try and keep her from running around too much after. But double check with her vet since she is getting the hernia done at the same time.

Will they fix her hernia too?

I have some puppies that I'm able to get spayed cheaply like that...which is GREAT.

i hope so....well the woman said that she'll talk to my vet, and that my vet will call me in about 2 days for all the info.... since she's our regular vet and already gave us the estimate, i wouldnt mind getting her done there, spayed for 10$ and then paying the $100 for her hernia, and the pre surgical blood work, and microchipping... paying about the same as the humane society..but with her vet that knows her and me well!

thanks so much guys!

what should i do/get to help prepare her for a fast and safe recovery?

tia!

That's awesome!!

I always wished they have a low-cost spay/neuter program for rabbits. I've heard of it in a couple areas but not around here.

Having just got my puppy Layla spayed 10 days ago I'd say to get yourself a bottle of valium from the vet, for you!
On a serious note, just keeping her from running and jumping is the main thing. It hasn't been too hard on me because I've been off work a lot due to the holidays so she didn't get much sleep, therefore she wasn't too wild. You can keep her busy with some chew toys. After the first few days I don't see why she can't go for walks on the leash(please ask your vet though).Just count the days like I'm doing, we're on day 10, four more to go.
You can do it, good luck!

Well with my foster dogs and the dogs at the office/kennel,when they get spayed...I have to make sure they don't jump, run or be very active for the first few days and also make sure they don't pick at their inscisions. Also make sure they are comfortable.I have taken them out,but not for long walks...just out to do their pee/poop.

I am sure Coco will be fine! Good luck!
