I am soooo sorry for what you are dealing with. I have worked at a pet store before and they make all kinds of statements about their puppies that are false..

However, when you bought that puppy did you sign and recieve any paperwork on it. That should detail what they'll do on the vet expenses and such.

I will be praying for you and the puppy. Please do keep us posted

I'm so sorry your having to go through this, I agree with both Scarlette and Jade, but it sounds like Parvo to me, I've dealt with parvo in a pup about 2 1/2 years ago (that didn't make it), at the time tabitha was my only dog, so she got rushed back to the vet for another set of vaccinations (just to be safe) as all her shots were up to date, luckily she didn't get the virus. If your lab is 6 years old, then the lab should be fine. Parvo is rare for dogs over the age of 2.... I sure hope everything turns out okay for you, I really feel what your going through as I have been there myself. Please keep us informed

So I went to the vet last night and she was alert and walking around in her oxygen chamber. I held her and she seemed in good spirits. The doctor showed me a chart of her oxygen levels and yesterday it started at 75 and it got up to 84, but she still won't eat on her own. After I played w/ her I sat down w/ the doctor and he said she still has fluids in her lungs and they're putting her on a new med to break it up. This morning they called me and told me that they fed her this morning and she ate everything and then they gave her more food and she ate that.. Looks like things could be turning up good. I'll try to post pics of Bella on this site.

Oh by the way the vet last night told me they checked her for Parvo and she does not have that. She had kennel cough and it moved down to her lungs. He lungs are filled w/ fluid and puss. Good news is that she's finally eating on her own, but her oxygen level is still low at 82.

That is wonderful news. We'll be thinking of you both.

Hugs and Prayers coming your way.

Did the vet say anything on the Parvo possibility

they are asking you if u want the pup put down. if they are ready to put the puppy down that quick it most have some thing else wroung with it, but make sure first go to another vet and see if they agree with the first vet. and if it has to be put down that early you have the right to take the pet store to court for damages.

Well at first the doctor told me over the phone that if she doesn't get better that would be an option. I saw her an hour ago and she went from 12 lbs to 12.8 lbs in one day so thats good.. I hope she gains more weight tomorrow.

I'm so glad it isn't parvo; that gets so many puppies so quickly!

Hope she continues to do well - you will both be in my prayers.

Wow. I had a Weim - in fact anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVE that breed. But a pet store is the absolute worst place to buy ANY animal, but especially a puppy. I am SO glad to hear she's doing better - please join the rest of us in educating the public on how horrible these stores treat these animals - most of them come from puppy mills. I have seen so many horrible things in doing rescues and research that I literally cannot step foot into a pet store that sells puppies without fear of doing someone bodily harm! LOL

Weim's are overbred and inbred and therefore can have a LOT of problems. One thing you'll want to do sometime in the near future is have her hips examined for hip dysplasia - did you get a pedigree for her and her parents? HD is a huge problem with weims.

Hang in there and feel free to pm or email me anytime!!
