Question

brendle boxers

How big do brendle boxers get?

This lady that I know has 3 of them. The mother of the pups had died (forget how) and she bottle fed them since they where 3 days old and they are 5 week old now. She wanted to know if i wanted one for free and she said that when the puppy gets old enough she would get him fixed and he'd get all his shots as well. She also said they are very smart dogs, but the vet told her they wouldn't get very big. I just wanna know what I'm getting myself into before i get him.

Boxers are a medium size dog. They are smart dogs and very good natured with small children. The one I had was the best natured dog I have ever had.She was the greatest with small children and small pets. She was also a very loyal dog up to the day we lost her.

A brindle boxer isn't a different breed it is a different color. They are all one and the same whether they are fawn, brindle, white etc. Size of puppy depends on size of parents. I know many people that are totally in love with this breed but be forewarned puppies need LOTS of good training and socialization. Well trained adults make spectacular family pets!

thanks for all the help I really am comsidering taking him. I already have a pomeranian. they get along good.

so, you would recommend getting him? he's a good puppy. he just wines whenever he wants held or when he want on the couch.

are brindle boxers are black and white? cause i looked on the net and most of the ones i saw was dark brown. the one i want is all black with a white line between his eyes and some white on his chest. I don't know if he's full blooded though, cause his face and around his nose is very wrinkly.

black and white is not brindle. brindle is brown with a little black in it.

Boxers are great dogs, I have two of them. Brindle can be a variety of colors, from light fawn w/stripes, dark fawn w/ stripes, there is even one called reverse brindle that look can look black, where the black stripes are more dominant than the brown, and makes the dog look black. Boxers dont come in black, some people breed them and mutate the genes causing black, but its not recommended to breed like that. Here is a picture of a fawn:

here are a few brindles:

As you can see there are tons of varieties of brindle.

For your weight question, like CTchin said, it depends on the parents, and whether the dog is male or female. We have a male and a female, Harlie our female, weighs about 55 lbs., Max our male weighs 85 lbs. Its quite a weight difference.

And also like CTchin said, Boxers need a lot of rigid training, and I know from experience. If they dont learn from the beginning that you are the boss or the "alpha" by obedience training they may become very overwhelming. So if you do get this pup, it would be wise to start training right away. Even if at first its only five or ten minutes a day, teaching to sit or lay down, it will help create that bond that you need to be the boss. If you stick with the training, a boxer will be a wonderful dog and companion. They are also very energetic dogs and need a good deal of exercise. Its also recommended to crate train Boxers because they tend to be chewers. Not every Boxer is, but most are. Our Harlie chews everything...eats blankets, pillows, even her toys, she chews them up and tries to eat them, you really have to keep an eye on her because if she would swallow some things, it could cause a blockage in her intestines, which could lead to very expensive surgery, or even death. So we really need to watch her, Max on the other hand, isnt a chewer at all. Crate training is just a great thing for you and your dog, because when you cant watch your dog, you know that he is safe in his crate, and so is your furniture and belongings you dont want to get chewed up.

But basically, Boxers are wonderful dogs, great loves, and I would do anything for the two I have. The woman seems like she is giving you a huge deal with giving you the pup for free, and also paying for the shots and fixing. That is great that she is doing that for you, and shows she really must care for the dogs. I hope if you get the pup that you have a great life with him! They are just awesome pets.
