bunny hopping

Well here i am with this nnew puppy and bunny hopping even at this early 8week old stage might be a sign of HD? i will get him X rayed at 8-9mnths as reccommended, but my question is anyone with the breeds for this, have you had your puppy bunny hop this early then had him x rayed and it come out positive for it, am i looking at the signs now??? just wondering??. he's clutsy on his feet too, but that just might be a puppy thing getting up and down stairs. he does have large feet and think legs and im going for akita and rotti or rotti and chow not the shephard they thought.

Don't take this as any sort of definitive answer, but I had a puppy that bunny hopped sometimes and there was nothing wrong with her hips. She was REALLY intellectually challenged (if she were any dumber we'd have had to water her) and I think she just hadn't completely figured out her feet yet.

Is he doing it all the time? Most of the puppies I've had did the bunny hop thing alot, especially when they were excited or playing.

cool just wondering is all my other rotti didn't do this and he is a cluts he runs to stairs and completely misteps them all like placing him on a treadmill and then turning it on and watching him stumble backwards. I'll just watch him and i think 8-9mnths is a good age to have the test/xrays done??

Elvis Lee is a 7 month old Maltipoo & he has bunny hopped ever since we brought him home at 8.5 weeks old. He does not do it all the time, but when he runs fast, first he gallops like a horse, then he bunny hopps. too funny. He also bunny hops when he is excited from playing. Vet said there is nothing wrong with his hips.
