Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul
Ok, so I know this brand of food has been discussed before but I just wanted to say that I bought a bag of this today and when I got home from work and opened it up it smelled wonderful! The girls practically jumped in the bag before I could get their food bowls filled.
The bad thing is that I ran out of Nutro Max this morning and the store I normally buy from is in the opposite direction I drive to work. I stopped at the pet shop on my way to work and found they didn't carry Nutro Max. My choices were Iams, Science Diet and the Chicken Soup brand. Anyway, the bad part is that I have no Nutro Max left to mix in with the Chicken Soup stuff, and the way the girls gulped down this food I have a feeling I'm going to find their cages sprayed with diarrhea in the morning.
Send me "no diarrhea in the morning" vibes!!

Sending some vibes for ya, Rhonda.
If you ever have to do that again, mix some white or brown rice in with the food half and half for a couple days and then gradually wean the rice out. It should help with the new food adjustment!

I'm glad they liked it, and I hope they don't leave you any nasty surprises. I've thought about switching our two over to Chicken Soup because I've heard so many good things about it, but Ein is ultra lazy and we have to watch his weight, so I've been hesitating (we had to take him off Nutro Natural Choice Weight Management because it was too much for him and he was gaining weight even though I was giving him the smallest amount listed for his size.)

After seeing a shepherd come in with a gunshot wound: "You know we pretty much just paid for Ein all over again." (Pats him on the head.) "I'd do it again if he needed us to."
Lesson: Remember to take time to think about what's truly important. Oh, and give your pets a hug.

I recently posted similar question about this product in the cats forum. Mine loved this stuff and the vet highly recommends it even over science diet. I was mixing with the Science diet for 1 adult then the kitten forumla for the 2 babies. They ended up picking out all the Chicken soup forumlas and leaving all the Science Diet forumla in thier bowls!!! Fortunately there was no nasty surprises and even the 6 week old tolerated it very well. But I'm throwing away Science diet kibble every time I change the food out so I'm just giving them the Chicken soup now. Best thing about it is no by products and no corn products. Is this the same with the Dog forumla?

I don't see corn listed as one of the top 10 ingredients. The first 4 ingredients are Chicken, Turkey, Chicken meal, Turkey meal, then rice. Unless when they say "meal" that's a disguise for corn.
No accidents this morning! :blob2: Actually Scarlette and Mirra didn't even poop when I took them out this morning.

Meal essentially means they have sucked all the moisture out then grind it. So to see Chicken meal for instance isnt bad but if you see "by-products" that is the primary ingredient to avoid to include anything corn according to my vet. Dont get me wrong he likes Science diet for the cats but prefers the Chicken Soup for both cats and dogs alike. In regards to my dog (rip to my Sammy) he never recommended Science Diet and felt that it was one of the worse products on the market for Dogs although stated a decent product for cats. I just checked my Science diet bag for the kittens and the very first ingredient listed is Chicken "By-Product" Meal. Primary reason I switched. Wow was I surprised when my vet recommended a "less" expensive food lol. When the new pup arrives I'll also start him or her on the Chicken Soup for Puppy Lover's.

Thanks for providing the link Jade. I didn't want to drag that big bag of food to my computer and type it all out.
Everyone seems to be adjusting pretty well to it. Everything is coming out normal.
