clipping nails?


my dog's nails are black and I can't see the flesh underneith when I cut the nails. The nails have become very long and I need to cut them without hurting her.any ideas?

Black nails ARE difficult to clip......
It's hard for me to advise you without seeing them with my own eyes.
You will have to make a judgement call for yourself but if you do cut one to short, there is a powder that you can dip the nail into that will stop the bleeding. (Available at most pet stores)
After that, you can use that nail as a guide for the rest.

Found this bit of info online. Try this, it just may work

"Clip a little at a time and look for the little grey dot that will appear in the part you have clipped off, that's the beginning of the quick, and at that point you should be careful....you can even stop there if you want, but can usually get away with a teeny clip more"
