Cooper has arrived. Pics.
If you may remember, I am the one that adopted my Godchild's Weimaraner and had many concerns.
Well, Cooper has arrived and I think everything is going to be ok.
So far, the cats have just stayed on the porch so that Cooper cannot get to them. Then when Cooper and I come in, they know it's safe to go and do what their used to doing.
As for living on the water, my fear of Cooper jumping in was something I didn't have to worry about. He will not jump in. We were playing fetch the ball (he loves this and never tires of doing it) and when I threw the ball, it hit the tree and went into the water. He ran after it and for a second my heart skipped a beat because I thought he would go in after it, but he didn't.
I am in love with him already. He is very good. Headstrong and stubborn at times, but I have let him know who is boss, and just the tone of my voice works for him. One of the things I had to break him of was jumping on the sofa. Both my Godchild and then my Mom and Dad would let him stay on the sofa. Well, we just bought a new one and that isn't acceptable, so that's the first thing I started teaching him. Just took two days and he doesn't try to get on the sofa anymore.
We bought him a real comfortable bed and he now goes and lies on that.
I'm so glad we got him. He's just beautiful.
I am going to try again to send pictures, I hope they work this time.
Well shoot, it says that they are too large. I don't know how to make them smaller. I guess you'll just have to take my word for it, he's a beauty.

Awesome that everything is working out! And thats great that it only took him 2 days to learn the couch was off limits...he sounds like a great dog already! Cant wait to see pics too!!

Oh yeah! He's a keeper!  My brother's ex girlfriend lived on the channel and she had a German Shorthaired Pointer named Shodin. They went on vacation and my brother was dog sitting and we were playing with Shodin outside one day and Shodin jumped into the channel! It's a 6 foot drop straight down into the water and my brother and I totally freaked trying to figure out how we were going to rescue him! That crazy dog swam over to the boat, climbed up the ladder onto the deck and shook himself off looking at us like we were nuts for freaking out!  Apparently he wanted us to take him for a boat ride!
