His leg has a fractured tibia (lower main bone) and he may have a pelvic injury, but other than that he survived with a little bit of road rash on his belly.

His former owner accidently hit him with the car somehow and brought him in to euthanize him. He came in to fill out the paperwork and didn't even have the money to euthanize, so we told him to turn the pup over to the hospital as a surrender. (I hadn't seen the puppy at this point.) He filled everything out and brought the puppy in and handed him to me. It was all over from there.

He'll have surgery Monday to repair the leg.

Aww, he's so so cute, how could anyone want to euthanize him? I hope he feels better soon!

He's soooo cute!

Just be prepared. If he's anything like Mirra was, as soon as that leg is repaired he'll be bouncing all over the place. I think I had a few mini heart attacks while Mirra was recouperating. They told us to keep Mirra "quiet" for at least 6 weeks. Ya, right! She was a maniac from the first day after her surgery. We went through ALOT of rawhides.

They didn't want to euthanize, but the owner didn't have the money to fix him so he was going to do that instead of let him suffer. When I explained that we'd try to find another home, that's what he opted to do.

Not to sound cold hearted, or like a meanie but I can understand why someone might choose euthanising their pet rather than the surgery. When Mirra broke her leg it cost me over $5000. That was for x-rays, surgery, pain meds, ect. Lucky for me I have good credit and access to a few credit cards. I would absolutely do it all over again if I had to, but I can understand why some people might not choose that route.

Yeah, I'm anticipating that. He does VERY well in his kennel here, so I'm hoping he'll be good in the crate at home.

This would have only been about $1200 - $1500, but they didn't even have the money for the office visit. I'm just glad they recognized that it wasn't fair to the puppy to be left to heal. There are people in this area that would just let the pup suffer, sad to say.
