Creole's had a complication
I just talked to the surgeon, who called to tell me he won't be doing surgery on Creole until tomorrow because he's so busy (which I expected, he isn't urgent). I asked him to look at his right leg on the xrays and told him Dr. M had picked up on what he thought was an old fracture last night before I went home.
The surgeon (Dr. W) took a look while he was on the phone with me and isn't so sure it's old. Worst case, doing surgery on the other leg might be a very bad idea and I might have to make a tough decision. Best case, it'll heal on its own with strict cage rest, maybe a splint?
I'll talk to Dr. W at four tonight when I go into work, but please keep this pup in your prayers. I've become completely attached to him and this would break my heart if it goes badly.

I hope that they look over him again and come up with a better plan, or at least one that still keeps Creole with you!

Both rear legs need surgery. Dr. W thinks the right leg will do well (the femur fracture we just discovered), but he's worried about the tibia fracture (left leg we knew about). We'll see.
No wonder he just can't get comfortable, the poor baby.

oh, poor baby!!
Is amputation for the left leg an option? He's young, so he should adjust pretty well.
I'll be keeping him in my thoughts. Poor sweetie.

Amputation may be an option down the road, but there's no way we could do that now with the other weight bearing leg broken as well.
We're going to try a repair on both and go from there, see how he does.
