Cute poms
This is my mom's male pom, Wesley and his girlfriend, Nina. I thought they looked so cute together. This friend of my mom wanted to breed her pom with my mom's so she got her a hair cut nails done and everything. My mom had the female there for a week and they thought she was pregnant, but nope. I guess the female was too old already. She's 9 and has had 7 litters.

Cute dogs. I think shaved poms are so goofy and cute.
On another note...
Why would anyone try to breed a senior dog? Even if she wasn't nine, she has had 7 litters. That has got to be some form of cruelty. Reminds me of puppy mills. Im glad for her that she wasn't able to get pregnant.

I have a Pomeranian, I am a huge Pom lover and always love seeing pictures of them... the dogs are VERY cute .
I'm also glad she didn't get pregnant... Yes, both of the dogs are very cute, but that doesn't mean either one of them should ever be bred. As a lover of this breed, it really makes me mad knowing that someone who supposedly loves their dog would try to breed it at the age of 9!!! That female needs to be spayed, with all those litters her chances of developing several different cancers skyrockets, not to mention that 9 is way to old for a female dog to be having puppies, why would she want breed a dog that has already had 7 litters? the risk of complications with a dog that old and having that many litters is HUGE... if she did get pregnant, her chances of a healthy delivery are not that great (meaning she could possibly die or would need a C- section ).
The only reason people should ever be breeding is to better the breed (people who are breeding for the right reasons are not making any money). It is completely irresponsible to breed 2 dogs together just because you are friends with someone who has the same breed of dog as you, and you/they want to make a little money on the side. When choosing 2 dogs to breed together a lot more goes into it than just letting them have at it... both of the dogs have been tested for genetic imperfections (like runny, goopy eyes) as well as for temperament ... BOTH of the dogs should have placed high in conformation or another breed specific dog sport (like agility, hunting, fly-ball). You are bettering the breed by strengthen the breed, not destroying it by breeding 2 dogs together for the fun of it. Also people breeding for the right reason usually have a waiting list and always have homes for all the puppies BEFORE they even breed the animals.
I have a Pomeranian, I had him neutered... not only to reduce his urge to ever run away to a female in heat (he never ran, because he was neutered before he got those urges), but also to completely eliminate his chances of testicular cancer and reduce his chances of others, and so that he would never breed with another dog and add to the overpopulation of pets. The facts show that altered dogs live longer healthier lives than unaltered animals.
As a lover of this breed the whole idea of breeding them together has really upset me, and I just think it is really sad , I feel bad for that female pomeranian. Cute pictures though.

Please remember that this is not a debate forum. Nikko is not the owner of the dog nor the one that tried breeding the dog. She was merely pointing out as to how cute her mother's dog looked. I'm sure there is enough information for her to read through to educate herself.
Please keep in mind that this board is not strictly for breed rescue and adoption but also for breeders or people wanting to breed. We do encourage rescue and adoption but we cannot allow members to continue to lecture and berate people that have chosen a different path.
If you would like to be constructive please by all means, write up a well written article on the benefits of rescue or adoption or an inclusive and informative article on the dangers of breeding animals (or a particular animal if that is what you have knowledge in) and we will create a sticky thread so that it stays at the top of the desired forum.
Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks Dena. As someone who does plan to (responsibly) breed her dog, I often feel like even mentioning it is a crime.
Yes, this dog is too old to breed.
Both are adorable! I've never seen a shaved Pom before - cute!

Thanx to everyone that replied and I just want to say that I agree that she was too old to breed and that her owners main reason was was wrong (most peoples reasons are....always for the money), but they are not my dogs so I don't get to choose what happens with them.
The day after the female was gone my mom shaved her pom....wow he looked funny. I'll try to get a pic of him.
