Desperate, please help.

I am taking my beloved pet dog to Spain in the near future, but I have a problem. I rescued my pup who had been abused and abandoned. In the year that we have been together she has made tremendous strides and is ok being left alone provided that she is in familiar surroundings. I have a fear that being checked as luggage may be too much for her.

Does anybody know of an airline that will allow me to buy her a seat (I will keep her in a crate at all times of course). Some airlines will allow pets in the cabin if they are small enough to fit under the seat in front, Martha is a little too big for that. I will pay full fare for her and I am not looking for any special deals.

Failing that, are there any ideas about how I can get her to Europe staying with her at all times. I was thinking of contacting air freight companies, charter airlines etc. but I do not know where to start.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated by both of us.

Thanks.

Iain.

How long are you going to spain for?? I know we have been to Italy and back with our pets, and are fixing to do it again, and yes it is hard transporting a pet, There are several airlines that allow you to take small dogs/cats on as carry on baggage, however international flights vary because of the distance.... You may want to call, Delta or United I know they both fly internationally, also I don't know but you can try British Airways as well, although if you get a flight through British Airways and they allow you to take the one on us a carry on, you need to make sure you are changing flights in the same airport in England or it is a direct flight, if you have to change planes and take a shuttle by the laws of the UK your pets will be quarantined for 6 months once they leave the airport. If you contact a freight company it is pretty much going to be the same thing, they will fly your pets over as "cargo" so my only suggestion is to do some research and call around..... I wish you luck, we are moving back to Italy in the fall, so I completely understand what you are feeling and going through...... Again Best of Luck
