Dog boots - Paw Talk

Does anyone have boots for their dogs? If so, do they work ok?

Sydnee hops around on 3 legs midway through our wintery walks so I decided to get some and try them.

Drs Foster&Smith had a clearance sale so I got the less expensive ones ($4.99 for a set!) to see how they work. If she likes them I may opt for the more expensive ones next year. Of course Mirra has to have a set too but they didn't make the cheapie ones in a large enough size for Scarlette.

Mirra out grew her parka from last year so I ordered her a new one (on clearance of course). What's funny is that Jeff rolled his eyes last year when I bought her a parka and Syd a hoodie. He hates seeing dogs in clothes, especially HIS babies. Mirra's parka mysteriously disappeared this past spring and Sydnee out grew her hoodie. I mentioned getting new coats for them and he said there's no way he was walking a dog that was wearing clothes. It's been REALLY cold (wind chill of -25F) here and I found the parka and it still fits Syd, so I put it on her. I put an old sweatshirt on Scarlette and put a small t-shirt on Mirra. I got laughing so hard...they were jumping around and having a good time. Jeff just rolled his eyes and shook his head. Well, the dogs didn't make it out the door with their clothes on because Jeff said no way!

Of course, midway through the walk the 2 little ones start to shiver a bit so we had to turn around and come home.

Guess who picked out a new parka for Mirra tonight? Guess who was all on board with the idea of doggie boots? If you guessed Jeff, you win!

Sounds too cute.

I'm sure the boots will work, but it'll probably take them a while to get used to them.

Let us know how the boots work cause the cold has been bugging Reggies feet too and I was debating getting boots for him.

Ohh tell us how they work, I wanna get my pitbull some..becuase she is a baby and wont go outside if the ground its wet...so i have to carry a 50 lb pitbull lol

I just got new boots for my terrier from Ruffwear, but so far he won't walk normally wearing them! I hope he gets used to them... He seems really cold-sensitive this winter, he never had a problem other years but recently he was holding his paws up off the ground when he was only outside for about 5-10 minutes, and when I tried to walk him in the snow he started limping and holding paws off the ground and running on three legs, poor thing... I don't know if it's the cold, snow, salt or a combination but I just hope he gets comfortable with his boots soon! I tried leaving them on him in the house but he kept walking very funny, then I tried taking him for a walk with them on hoping that'd get him comfortable with them but he refused to walk at a normal speed...he went so slow I was only able to walk him one block!

I want to get boots for Smeagol but my husband put his foot down on that. He puts up with all the shirts, sweatshirts, jersey and toe nails getting painted at the groomers.

I REALLY wish I could find boots & a coat in Great Dane size...and that Stella would WEAR them! I bought her a coat, when she was barely able to still wear the XXL, but she hated it - turned it around, unattached most of it, drug it around the yard...
