Dogs For Sale :(

today at the grocery store there were these 2 young people standing in front of the store selling puppies...they said they were rottweiler/shephard mixes...they also said they were 7 weeks old...but heres how the conversation went...

Me: ....awww they are so cute, have you thought about an ad in the paper or posters up in the pet store or even friends?

Them: thats so much trouble...

Me: how old are they?

Them: ummm 6 weeks

Me: looking worried...they look so small, are they wened?

Them: almost...and ummm I uhhh they are 7 weeks...

Me: theres a lwa here that says you can not sale puppies like this, its just not a good idea...

(its hot here right now...it was 90 they had been there for 3 hours, in the sun, with little new puppies that still needed mama, I found this sad and heart breaking)

I go in the store with Ken and we are talking about them, and the bad case of parvo going around right now...I told him how sad it made me, that those beautiful pups were being treated so poorly, and the poor mama was probably going nuts...so I called the humain center and turned them in...they got there pretty fast and talked to the poeple, my call back let me know the pups were confiscated and they went to their home and got the mama...and ARF has placed them in a foster home already...

makes me sad to think people can be so cruel, to not even care about those poor babies...just thought I would share...

everyday I drive by a busy street (the grocery store) there is always people out there selling pups...and the signs always say to good home...how the **** do they know? these are strangers driving by and taking them home on a whim...ugh people grrrrr they make me mad and sad

I guess that goes to show that people should really get their pets fixed. It's sad but it's reality sometimes. I'm glad you turned them in though.

Wow! Good for you! Taking the time and calling in. Sounds like CA has some pretty strict animal laws? That is a very sad story and I do wish people would get their dogs fixed as well (here I am to talk... ) They should have a universal law that states something like unless your dog is part of a registered breeding facility (which can still be controversal) you must have him/her fixed.

they have some strict laws in my city but we also have a low cost to nocost spay and nueter program...if you make very little they will fix your dog for free and for those who make a little more for a very very reduced price, they make it so easy for people to get their dogs fixed, its just so sad that noone takes advantage of it...

Wow, I never would have even thought to turn them in. Way to go! I'm so glad they'll be taken care of.

When I got Toby from a breeder, I had to sign a contract that said I'd get him fixed by the time he's 6 months unless I plan to show him. I wish there was some way to enforce that with non-AKC registered dogs.

good for you turning them in. That's so sad people would do such a thing when they have such easy access to cheap care for thier pets to keep unwanted puppies from being born.

Good for you for doing something about it! People just don't seem to get it, the pet overpopulation problem. I think too many people think, well, it's not my problem or what's one litter? They just don't get it.

I am so happy to hear that you turned them in!Things like that make me so angry!

I see it alot too here...but not only with dogs or cats...one day, it was cold and rainy and there were two little girls outside with a boc of guinea pig babies...it was way too cold out there for them and being in a cardborad box...not cool at all...

People are so stupid! Get your animals fixed...and if there is an accident, do not go out and sell or give away the animals to ppl on the street, give to a rescue or a shelter! They will do all that they can to find the animals GOOD homes...makes me mad how stupid ppl are!

They have a low cost to no cost spay and neuter here too. Sometimes all you have to do is give a donation even if it's almost nothing. Shelters are way overloaded with animals, and not just dogs and cats. I guess a good thing is though, they do tend to get rid of the puppies and kittens first, but with everyone wanting babies, that makes it bad for the older dogs that are usually trained and housebroken...people get puppies and can't train them and just end up taking them back to the shelter.
