Question

Dog's odd behavior

I just recently rescued a male dog from the pound and he does something very odd. I understand that male dog sometimes "take care of themselves", but my dog does something strange. He bites the base part of his penis and then moves around in a circle, like it's a chew toy... There is no licking or anything involved. I've never seen this happen before. Also he's had diarrhea ever since we got him... what causes diarrhea in dogs? He only eats when we hand feed the food to him (I use Purina Dog Chow). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mabe he's looking for some things very very dear to him that have recently been removed.

Probably should take him to a vet.

Well... that is very odd no doubt, but I agree, you probably should take him to a vet.

This is one I've never heard of! I realize this post was a few months ago, but I'd be interested in hearing if the dog is still doing this or what you found out.

Unfortunately the vet had no clue as to why he was acting so strange. She gave him an antibiotic and a worm medicine and he's been fine ever since. Well, fine except for the fact that he has attachment issues, lol!
