Duh! Why didn't I think of this sooner?!

I have bought a TON of dog beds this past year. There will be a thunderstorm and Scarlette will shred hers. Sydnee will have some type of abdominal explosion in her kennel (we call the crates kennels ) for no apparent reason. Mirra will decide she's tired of her bed, chew it up and get a new one. A couple days ago she had an upset stomach while we were at work and had diarrhea and needed a new bed. I figure I spend about $18-$26 each time someone needs a new dog bed. I bet I've bought 8-10 beds this year, mostly because of them getting chewed up. I tell them NO MORE BEDS, then I feel bad after a couple of days and buy them another one.

Then I had a thought....regular human pillows at WalMart!! I bought 2 queen sized pillows at Walmart tonight for $3.79 each. Why, oh why, didn't I think of that sooner??!!

You're so smart! I hadn't thought of that. I mean, I've tried giving Dakota some of ours for her crate, but Ben would get mad because thats when she'd always get sick or decide to chew (which honestly hardly ever happens, the chewing thing. xD)

But she's got a nice cushy dog bed in our bedroom, now. xD It was like 30 bucks at Sams!

hehe good thinkin! Allie doesnt really have a bed, she has a piece of plushie carpet we got for $1 at the carpet store, i think its like 16x24, fits perfectly in her kennel. and a blanket, and a lil puppy pillow toy.

oh, and her teddy of course!

Ein has both. He usually spents half the night on the bed and half the night on the floor. When he's in the bed, he has a bad habit of trying to steal my pillow from me, so he has his own.

I haven't figured out what to do for Colleen's kennel. We're still working on housebraking, so she is in the kennel while we are at work. Apparently, she has no problem using the kennel as a bathroom. And then walks through it and puts yucky paw prints all over her dog bed, which had to be thrown out because I didn't want to put it in the wash with anything else. I think we're going to go with newspaper until she's housebroken and then get her pillows or a dog bed.

That is a good idea and easily replaced and comfortable for the dog too.

We do that too Rhonda! Don't you love coming up with money saving ideas like that? Lately the store we get our dog food from has been having a sale on the brand we like. Last time it was $7 off a bag! So we bought three 40lb bags. Manto (who is a huge cow) goes through it pretty fast so I'm lovin the sales!
